When registering for a Series (or multiple series), you will be pre-paying in full, (or registering in full if utilizing a Monthy/Annual Auto-Draft Class Pass), for a specific daily class for a specified number of weeks. In doing so, you are making a strong commitment to yourself and your practice.  Generally students enrolled in a series class structure have higher attendance rates.  Regular attendance supports the multitude of benefits related to the practice, fosters a sense of community within the class itself, and allows the teacher to easily build on teachings from class to class.  The enrollment in Series Class offerings is limited and therefore provides more opportunities for each student to receive individual guidance and assists.  When you enroll in a Series Class, please do so with the full intention of participating in all of the classes.  Please see our Fees and Policies page for greater detail on Series enrollment.

New to yoga? Have you been away from your mat awhile and need a refresher? Do you feel like your yoga practice needs to begin again? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please make plans to start, or continue your journey in our beautiful space, with our experienced instructor Selina Vaughn. The Beginner Series is designed to familiarize you with the language, basic postures, (asana), breath, (pranayama), meditation, and philosophy of yoga. You will learn safe postural alignment, modifications, and use of props to support your yoga and health goals, as well as add perspective to your yoga experience. In this Series we will explore poses from standing, sitting, reclining, and linking poses together, known as ‘Vinyasa’ or Flow Yoga. ‘Beginner’ does not mean ‘gentle’. Please make sure you are healthy enough for moderate movement. This series will build week to week, so attending all classes is highly encouraged.

Often when a new student gets a glimpse of a Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga class, they perceive a sense of chaos. Every practitioner seems to be doing their own thing. One student may be flowing through surya namaskar, another may be holding triangle, while yet another is struggling with a seated twist. But if you look closely you will see that each is gradually flowing through the same series of postures at their own pace, the pace of their own unique breath. And, the resonance of the breath, not the sound of the teacher’s voice, permeates the class. While it may initially seem confusing or intimidating, the experience that is cultivated is actually one that is more internal and meditative. As each student develops their memory and proficiency in the series, they become more responsible for their own practice. As greater responsibility is developed, students feel more confident and freer to initiate a personal home practice which in turn accelerates and enhances their group experiences. For those returning to Mysore style classes, this series will feel like coming home.  For those of you new to Mysore, you will receive generous and positive support as you begin to fully integrate the Ashtanga Primary Series.  (Please note that the Yoga Shala will be kept at a warm (75-80F) temperature for this class to support safety as well as promote detoxification.)

Mondays and Wednesdays – 5:45-7pm at Lisa’s Home Shala in Tech
Terrace. Email yogashala@lubbockhwy108 for directions.
