LIFE COACHING – HOW IT WORKS:
Coaching methodology has its roots in a history dating back to the time of Socrates. Most coaches use the Socratic method of deep listening and asking powerful questions to help their clients get in touch with the issues that are holding them back from accomplishing their goals and uncovering possibilities where before it appeared there were none.
Coaching draws from the fields of adult learning theory, management theory, psychology, philosophy, spirituality, and consulting. Each coach has a unique style and genre of coaching they work with. Some coaches blend their previous work experience into the coaching model such as parenting coaches, health coaches, etc.
Coaching is not counseling. Counselors are mental health experts and focus on medical or clinical diagnosis of pathology or relationship conflicts. Coaches see their clients as the experts of their own life and are focused on helping a client learn and develop. Coaching focuses on obtainable goals and possibilities and works with generally functional people desiring a better situation in life.
WHAT ARE YOU TOLERATING?
You may be tolerating more than you are consciously aware. If something annoys us and we have tried to change it and not experienced success, it is common to just put up with it because we are either afraid of the change it will bring into our lives or we just don’t know how to move forward effectively.
Ask yourself the questions below. These are just a few of the ways coaching helps you stop tolerating dissatisfaction and move you into the joy you want RIGHT NOW!
ASK YOURSELF A FEW QUESTIONS:
What are the three key areas for you to focus on for your development that would bring you the most joy?
- Area 1:
- Area 2:
- Area 3:
What is the one thing in your life you would like to have but don’t have a clue how to go about getting it?
What three things are you tolerating in your life that are preventing you from experiencing lasting peace?
